In 2016 the Regional District of Kitimat and Stikine and their consulting engineering firm engaged Bear Creek Contracting Ltd. to construct a state-of-the-art waste management facility. With Bear Creek’s background and expertise in earthworks, pipe works, and working in environmentally sensitive areas and ecologically diverse environments, Bear Creek’s team were able to execute a successful project with all parties best interests at the forefront of their construction techniques and methodologies.
Bear Creek was responsible for constructing a complete leachate management system for the landfill, equalization pond, aeration pond, and sedimentation pond portions of the facility. We constructed the new septage management facility, developed a phytoremediation area for re-forestation of a portion of the site, and constructed a state-of-the-art compost facility. Lastly, Bear Creek constructed a perimeter wildlife fence for complete environmental and fauna protection to ensure the facility’s impact on the environment is as close to zero as practicable.
